Moon jellyfish started blooming in Norway!

11. 7. 2019

Our GoJelly colleagues from NTNU and SINTEF joined the cruise with RV Gunnerus on 19.06.19 in order to catch some jellyfish. They observed that the moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) started the blooming season in Trondheimsfjorden. Although most specimen were still quite small (ca. 10 cm in diameter), they were able to sample quite nice amounts of moon jellyfish for population genetics and mucus collection. They successfully caught moon jellyfish with the trawl and also implemented the very sophisticated ‘bucket-technique’ but with less success ;). Well done girls!
