Jellyfish harvest

The essential part of GoJelly projects are the products which could be made using jellyfish as source. Of course, the sustainability of the production is kept in mind at all times. Hence, if our products for cosmetics, agriculture, novel materials, food and feed will be successful, we must maintain sustainability by preventing over-harvesting of jellyfish. So far, based on the results from the experts in the field, our European fishermen, the harvesting of jellyfish sounds promising and, providing the collaboration between fishermen, scientists local and national authorities, could provide an additional source of income for the fishermen and the local communities.
Pictures show the situation in Slovenia, where jellyfish harvesting is not yet established. However, during jellyfish blooms, they get caught up in nets and prevent fish from being caught.
