First sampling with RV Gunnerus in Norway!
2. 5. 2018
NTNU had their first GoJelly cruise with RV Gunnerus on Monday, April 30. The aim was to deploy a bottom trawl close to Ytterøya in the Trondheimsfjord down to 400 m depth in order to sample mainly Periphylla periphylla.
In one day, they took many samples of this jellyfish species for different purposes: for molecular analyses, trophic ecology, biochemical composition (lipids, proteins, amino acids) and for collagen isolation for GoJelly partner CRM. In addition, they took zooplankton samples from net tows, sorted ephyra, and young stages of Periphylla periphylla for biochemical composition, trophic ecology and genetic purposes.
