I am an environmental bio technologist specializing in ecological assessment of environmental perturbations at the microbial community level using molecular and biochemical tools. Within the GoJelly project I will help to assess the occurrence and abundance of microplastics in wastewater effluents and contribute to the development of a mucus filter.  Another aspect of our work will be to test the adsorption of toxins such as pharmaceuticals compounds to microplastics.

Elaine Yates

I am an environmental engineering undergraduate from the University of Pittsburgh assisting in Ort Braude’s research on the characterization and quantification of microplastic in wastewater effluent and the microplastic-facilitated transport of organic pollutants.
